A dictionary is a plain list of words which could used as passwords. Elcomsoft Desktop Forensic Bundle is distributed with multiple dictionaries in various languages. We recommend running a short dictionary attack first, using the "Top 10000 words" dictionary as an example. A dictionary attack using a short word list takes almost no time, and there is a high probability that the password will be discovered.
