File open password
For the latest QuickBooks version (2006 through 2021) the file open password cannot be recovered instantly. However, you are able to change this password and use the newly set password to open the file. In the password change dialog you can specify the new file name, path and the new password:
By default, the file with the new password is saved to the same directory. The "-modified" string will be appended to the original file name. Passwords for all QuickBooks database users will be reset to the same password that you entered in the "New password" field.
